Olive’s P.O.V.

Damn, did I really judge him without even asking him because of how he looks and the vehicle he’s driving?

“I’m sorry.”, I blurt out.

“All good. Now that that’s out the way. We’re here.”

He turns off the main road and makes a right into the parking lot of a small burger joint. It seems if you didn’t know this place was here that you would completely miss it driving by. The blinking sign above the door reads “Sam’s”.

“One of my favorite spots in the city.”, he says parking and turning off the engine. “And, it’s not fancy.”

He gets out and I can’t help but wonder why he comes to this place if he has so much money. He said it’s one of his favorites, so that means he must come here a lot. Before I can try to figure him out in my mind, my door opens and he’s standing there holding out a hand to help me out. Embarrassing! I guess he did see me struggle getting in then. I take his hand and step out as gracefully as I can. Much easier with him basically holding me up with one arm. Once I’m out, I try to think of something to bring my attention away from my own issues.

“So, why didn’t you want to tell me you were the owner?” Although I’m guilty for judging him, I didn’t let it slip that he didn’t want to tell me.

He pauses before opening the door to the place. “Because I see something in you that I hadn’t in anyone else that I’ve met in my life.”

Crossing my arms over my chest, I wait for him to tell me what it is. But seconds pass and he opens the door then steps aside for me to go in first. As I walk past him, I say what’s on my mind. “And what’s that?”

The door closes behind him as we walk side by side to a booth in the back. We sit down across from each other. I pick up the menu on the table thinking that I’m not going to get an answer. But his next words give me butterflies.

“Potential for something more.”, he says as my gaze locks on his.
